Making money online is a business and should be treated as such, requiring work, research, time, and money.   You should be prepared to invest in your business.  Costs for a conventional business are far greater than for an online business.  Internet marketing for instance,  is far less money than conventional marketing, such as mailers, newspaper or magazine ads.  These can run hundreds perhaps thousands per month and reach homes which have no interest whatsoever in your product.

Compare that to customers searching for your specific product and then finding you.
Online Tools consist mainly of Computer Software, Initial design and construction of website, hosting services and perhaps joining some good monthly newsletters or websites.  These investments are minimal so the risk is low.

Conventional Tools can run anywhere from large equipment, employees, storefront rental, expensive advertising, office equipment, phone systems and the list goes on. The investment and risks are great.

There are several ways in which the internet is generating income.  One is to promote a business already in place.  To generate more customers to your business and to
create a professional appearance.  It is possible to make a one man operation look much larger than it is. Other advantages include encouraging impulse buying, adding a presence and keeping your name in front of people.

Emerging quickly are website businesses that in themselves generate an income. Creating a website solely for the purpose of promoting other products from a variety of sources. You get paid a little bit every time a person either buys or clicks on an advertisement from your page.  This is auto income and once set up, requires little maintenance, but will not usually make a lot of money.  The idea is a little here and there adds up, and requires sites with big traffic so you get a little piece from a lot.

Third I will mention a combination of both ideas.  Why not promote your business and product with a website and make some extra money while you’re at it.  Promote other products that run alongside yours.  For example, you are promoting Salsa Dance instruction with a website and email promotion. Why not sell Salsa Dance Shoes as well.  Find a Shoe company, create a link to their site from yours and you get 20% or 30%. Add to that, the shoe company links to your site for Salsa Dance instruction.  It’s a winning plan for making money online.
